|Since 1998 Southern Illinois Storm Shelters, Inc. has been providing families with the protection and comfort they deserve. Since our humble beginnings we have grown to become one of the premier storm shelter manufacturers of the Millennium. We produced our first model in 1998, after two successful years, we set out to build the ultimate tornado shelter. In January of 2001, after careful market studies were performed and evaluated, we completely redesigned and developed an affordable quality storm shelter to protect you and your loved ones in the most severe weather conditions, while providing you with one of the safest, roomiest, and most easily accessible storm shelters available. As you can see in the picture, our shelter protrudes only about 8 inches out of the ground, our shelter looks great in any location with very little landscaping.
Our ultimate commitment to you, the consumer is simple: Quality craftsmanship, durability, and peace of mind for you and your loved ones at a price you can afford.
You will find some fly by night manufactures bragging on their shelters, stating they have two or three manufacturing and assembly plants. Throughout the years we have seen a lot of companies come go, especially after a major storm or catastrophic event only to leave the customer stuck with a defective product.
We encourage you to check out any company references, including ours. We have had units crack and leak, we are only human. Any company that tells you otherwise is probably lying or hasn't been in business very long. The important thing is that we stand behind our products, we always have and always will.
We design, manufacture, and finish all of our products from start to finish in the same 45000sq ft facility. This insures the quality is 100% throughout the entire process. We do not outsource any of our work, steel or fiberglass. The fact is if it hasn't been properly designed and built it will fail. Texas Tech Testing is great and we have had our units tested, but without proper engineering all you are left with is a tested door or component. Make sure you ask for engineering designs stamped by a licensed PE. If they can't provide this, use caution when considering their shelter.
